West Ridge Academy’s Day Treatment and Residential Programs include an extensive Recreational Therapy program designed to help students experience success through physical, social and interactive accomplishments. Whether it’s on our state-of-the-art Ropes Course, art, games, music, physical activities like dodgeball, or team-building activities, students build self-esteem and discover problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, and trust.

Our Recreational Therapist delivers treatment services that use a wide range of activity and community-based interventions and techniques. They help improve the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and leisure needs of our residents as well as assist them to develop skills knowledge and behaviors for daily living and community involvement.

As healthcare evolves, the technical knowledge and skills required increase significantly. Specialty certification distinguishes professionals who practice at higher levels. That’s why our Recreational Therapy Program includes:

  • CTRS Certification (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist®)
  • CARF Certification (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities)
  • Activities for those with Developmental Disabilities
  • Behavioral Health Activities
  • Community Inclusion Services
